Between October 14 and 16, our partner Bruno Corrêa Burini participated in the I Angola-Brazil International Congress on Maritime, Port and Customs Law, held in Luanda, Angola. The event brought together authorities, experts and professionals from both countries to discuss legal and regulatory challenges in the maritime, port and customs sectors.
Among the topics discussed were port governance and operations, with reflections on management models and key aspects of operational efficiency and competitiveness.
During the congress, it was announced that Brazil would provide technical support to Angola to address 15 non-conformities identified by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in the implementation of international standards. The initiative aims to strengthen regulatory compliance and improve oversight mechanisms for maritime and port activities.
The program also highlighted prospects for strengthening trade relations between Brazil and Angola, whose bilateral trade amounts to approximately US$ 1.5 billion annually, demonstrating the potential for expanding business and investment between the two countries.
We thank the congress organizers for the opportunity to participate in discussions relevant to the development of Maritime, Port and Customs Law, as well as to the exchange of knowledge and experience among Brazilian and Angolan professionals.
