BRZ has been monitoring developments related to the so-called “tariff hike” and its impacts on Brazilian companies with export operations to the United States.
In an interview with Valor Econômico, our partner Bruno Burini notes that the advancement of the administrative reimbursement process has encouraged more Brazilian companies to seek recovery of amounts, even if relatively small. “When it began, there was a certain level of uncertainty. As matters became more consolidated, uncertainty decreases, the likelihood of success increases and, therefore, this creates an incentive for those who, even with small amounts, wish to make use of this system,” he states.
This scenario reinforces the importance of an individualized analysis of impacted transactions, applicable deadlines and possible alternatives for companies that have paid amounts related to the additional tariffs imposed in recent years.
